Green Tea Can Cure Parkinson
The green tea shows more health benefits. Which we all hear is that green tea can protect us from cancer and heart disease. Well, it seems green tea can prevent Parkinson disease, according to a study presented at the regular meeting of the American Academy of Neurology.
One group of Houston researchers examined polyphenols, a powerful antioxidant which is a major component of green tea. A previous animal study indicated that green tea extract may have the effect of preventing Parkinson disease. However, the mechanisms underlying this protection are not yet understood by the experts.
Parkinson disease occurs when brain cells that produce a compound, called dopamine, die in the brain that controls movement. Because dopamine levels fall, shaking and movement of uncontrolled seizures occurred. Patients with Parkinson also have a very slow motion and some suffer from dementia.
Some theories state that Parkinson is caused by toxic substances that kill brain cells and causes dopamine levels fall. The researchers wanted to see whether the effects of polyphenols or green tea on brain cells.
In studies of mice, the researchers found that the polyphenols inhibit the MPP+ to enter the brain cells, a substance known to kill brain cells and causes Parkinson in mice.
Polyphenols appear to be involved in the distribution system which allows toxins into the brain damage; said researcher Tianhong Pan, MD, PhD, from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in a press release. Polyphenols effects on brain not yet tested in human, but if you want to try and have a problem with the taste of green tea, you can try green tea capsules that are available on the market.
