Drinking Milk Extending Age
Milk and derived products are rich in calcium and other important substances. In addition to the body healthy, milk can make a person suspected to outlive. The conclusion is expressed by researchers from the UK and Australia. According to them, the consumption of foods rich in calcium plays an important part in protection against stroke and other causes of death.
In the research, the researchers followed the journey of life in the 4374 British children who had participated in the study in the 1930s and found that those who consumed foods rich in calcium and milk are healthier. The study showed that milk consumption of 300 milligrams daily, which contains 400 milligrams of calcium, can reduce the chances of dying of a stroke by 60%.
The researchers said although milk products have high cholesterol, but milk consumption does not increase the risk of heart disease. Evidence also showed high calcium diet is good for human blood pressure.
The study was conducted by researchers from the University of Bristol, England, and Queensland Institute of Medical Research, Australia, who said that a hormone called IGF-1, which is similar to insulin, may be factors that affect blood circulation and heart.
Although the study has revealed some positive aspects regarding the consumption of milk products, in the UK Stroke Association stated that further study needs to be done.
Besides advised to consume a balanced diet, rich in fruits and vegetables and low in saturated acids, sugar and salt. To reduce saturated fat intake, the researchers advised to choose low-fat milk. The study authors also have been reminded about the meeting and declared income and employment levels also may be one factor.
